Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze certain post-dictatorship image rhetorics of image as arisen from Chilean and Argentinian novels and films during the first fifteen years of the 21st Century. These take the shape of crossovers between image/film image and image/text, from which it is sought to answer first the question of the gaps left by history/memory, and second, by the political, cultural and social tensions between visual and verbal representations. From this point we will argue that these gaps and tensions articulate the impossibility to bringing a conclusion to the history/memory stories in the post-dictatorship period.
