Professor Estrella meditates on the significance of change in the history of
mankind and the way it has influenced the universe of studies of the natural
and the cultural sciences. In the plane of the theory of culture, professor Estrella propounds that tradition becomes the necessary condition of change, but a society where each and every one of its members is possessed by its tr adition constitutes the dream of the tribal organization, within which the individual does not count except in its reiterative conduct. Freedom, therefore, becomes the way the individual assumes his environment in a sense which is not his own, but which is constantly created by men afresh each time.
