Resumen

The author outlines the highlights of his academical life as a contemporary of outstanding professors at the University of Chile. He mentions his efforts within the fields of investigation and teaching of Philology and Linguistics, emphasizing the relation between words and man's view of his outer world. Lastly, he ratifies the importance of investigation, remembering that the fame of a university is based mainly on the scientific reputation of its academic staff

Rodolfo Oroz, Universidad de Chile

Profesor emérito de la Facultad de Filosofía,Humanidades y Educación de la Universidad de Chile. Doctor en Filosofía por la Universidad de Leipzig. Ha entregado su capacidad y perseverancia a los estudios gramaticales, filológicos y lingüísticos, sobresaliendo respecto de los terceros sus específicos aportes a la lingüística chilena. Dos de sus libros más significativos son Edición Crítica de la obra El Vasauro de Pedro de Oña y La lengua castellana en Chile
