Andrés Bello, humanista
ResumenThe author presents an analysis of Andrés Bello as a defender of classicalhumanism, within the scope of his vast labours in Latín America. He points outhis exceptional capacities as a teacher, based on his faith in man, whom hewanted to see advancing towards a full development, both as an individual andas a social being, through education and love of freedom, generated, accordingto Bello, by the progress of wisdom, including the practica! application of thearts and sciences. It should also be signaled out that Bello's humanism owes much to his command of Latín, which permitted him to deeply understand the culture of the classics, law and Spanish language.
